This is my favourite from this batch made in January 2025.
It includes fabric gifted to me from a friend, likely a sample I think. Second hand heart gingham ribbon, beautiful red ruffle trim with spots and vintage white lace children’s collars. One side is a birdie in flight, the other side lady bugs and butterflies are clamouring over the imaginary white picket fence that the lace collar reminded me of.
so this piece is a little like having a garden on your neck.
I like that. The only new part of this collar is the birdie appliqué, from a uk small seller on Etsy. And the felt bugs were from some random craft shop from my past - that I can’t remember.
95% recycled
100 % sustainable
100% one of a kind.
This was handmade using modern and old methods, including sewing machines from the 80’s and my hand winding machine from 1939 - that I love for its wide white stitches. Also, a lot of hand sewing has been involved with each piece. My collars are a labour of love.
